Art is no longer static.
The IMERSUM team, in collaboration with eMuseum and the National Art Museum of Ukraine, has launched the VR exhibition «Masterpieces of NAMU» – a project that allows viewers to step inside the world of Ukrainian painting.
This initiative merges digital technology with museum heritage, creating a new format for interacting with art. Users find themselves in a virtual gallery featuring works by Oleksandr Murashko, Oleksandr Bohomazov, Oleksandra Ekster, David Burliuk and other renowned artists.
Project Goal
The main goal of «Masterpieces of NAMU» is to make Ukrainian art accessible to a global audience. The project presents the museum’s classical collection in a visually and technologically engaging format, attracting new viewers. It is about preserving cultural heritage in digital form – and about the future, where Ukrainian art becomes part of the global dialogue, on equal terms.

Virtual Museum: How It Works
- Digitization of the National Art Museum of Ukraine’s collection;
- Full 3D environment created in Unreal Engine;
- Adaptation for Meta Quest VR headsets;
- Visual cues and spatial navigation logic within the virtual space
Users can interact with the exhibits, shift perspectives, move closer to the artworks and explore the stories behind the artists.
Outlook
The VR exhibition will be presented at Ukrainian embassies, cultural centers and international exhibitions and forums dedicated to art and digital innovation.
The project is adapted for use in educational institutions, museums, and art spaces and is already being integrated into cultural diplomacy programs and international presentations of Ukrainian visual culture.
